Village Comprehensive Plan
On September 24, 2024, the Village of Rhinebeck Board of Trustees adopted our new Village Comprehensive Plan. This 3-year effort completely overhauled the previous plan from 1993, and created a roadmap for land use planning for the next 10-20 years.
Now we are moving to the next stage: Implementation
On April 8, 2025, the Village Board dissolved the Comprehensive Plan Committee and created the Comprehensive Plan Implementation Committee (CPIC) (see Resolution #04082025-01). We sat this 9-member Committee on August 12, 2025.
The CPIC’s charge is to help prioritize actions, identify opportunities, support ongoing community engagement, and partner with the Board as the Village advances the goals of the adopted Plan. Further, the $165,000 Smart Growth Zoning Code Update Grant from the Department of State is active, and the Zoning Code Working Group, operating as a subcommittee of the CPIC, is working toward code updates in alignment with the Plan’s recommendations. When there is news, we will make sure to publish it here and announce it through our email list.
The implementation phase is long-term and will unfold over many years. CPIC members are appointed to two-year, staggered terms, and we welcome residents and Village stakeholders who want to contribute their time, expertise, and passion for Rhinebeck’s future. If you’re interested in staying involved or learning about volunteer opportunities, please let us know — your ideas and engagement matter as we move from vision to action.
Thank you for your ongoing interest and commitment to making Rhinebeck a vibrant, resilient, and inclusive community for all.
On April 7, 2025 the Village was honored to be awarded Best Comprehensive Plan by the New York Planning Federation. This is an extraordinary testament to the hard work of our community to create this remarkable document. Bravo!
