Hometown Heroes Banners Update

Any Phase 1 applications that are received by July 1, 2026 will be processed immediately and banners may be hung prior to the 250th Anniversary celebration on 7/25/26.
Though the Village will first hang Phase 1 banners, applications for all eligible honorees are being accepted.
The fee is $200
(Solely for banner materials & processing)
For those who need assistance, sponsorship is available
As a reminder, Phase 1 : Municipal Lot Streetlights
These banners will be specific to honorees that have been Killed in Action (KIA) and/or eligible veterans that are deceased.
For this phase, applications will be accepted for honorees that are deceased, were discharged under honorable conditions and satisfy at least one of the following residency requirements:
Was a current resident of the Village or Town of Rhinebeck at the time of their passing; or
Was previously residing in the Village or Town of Rhinebeck (20 years or more); or
Was a resident of the Village or Town of Rhinebeck at the time of enlistment or entry into military service.
Applicants must submit:
Completed Hometown Heroes Banner Application
Proof of Rhinebeck residency
Proof of military service (DD-214*)
Payment: Cash or Check/Money Order for $200; made payable to "Village of Rhinebeck” with "Hometown Hero - [Veteran's Name]" in the Memo Line.
Digital (preferred) or Hard Copy Photo of Honoree with at least 300 dpi resolution
Copy of Death Certificate
