Keep Textiles and other Waste out of the Landfill
Starting in February 2026, you can now recycle your unwanted clothing, linens, luggage, textiles, bags, accessories, stuffed animals, and footwear right from your stoop or driveway — for free!
The Village of Rhinebeck is taking part in a Dutchess County-sponsored program with Helpsy, which offers monthly pickup from your stoop or driveway. Items you want to recycle through the Helpsy program must be clean, dry, and odorless and must be left outside on the pickup day in a closed plastic bag. To help minimize emissions impact, please only request a pickup when you have 3 or more bags.

Helpsy will be in Rhinebeck on the second Tuesday of each month. You can schedule your pickup via this webform or the Helpsy hotline:

This program helps keep reusable items out of the landfill — reducing waste, pollution, and disposal costs for our community. Did you know that our waste is often hauled hundreds of miles away or incinerated? Climate Smart Rhinebeck gathered this interesting information about where your waste is going and why responsible recycling matters.
Please note: The municipal government is not responsible for picking up items in this program. You can leave your bags sitting on your stoop or driveway from 7am - 7pm on the appointed day. Bags left out otherwise will be considered littering or encumbering the sidewalk, which violates Village code § 98-13 and 72-1.
If there’s an issue with your pickup, please call Helpsy directly at 800-244-6350 or email info@helpsy.co with your name, address, and date of pickup. The Village Board supports recycling and we need your cooperation in keeping the village looking tidy.
The Town of Rhinebeck is also participating by having Helpsy drop-off bins to be located at the Town Park. Villagers are welcome to use this solution as well as local business locations such as, At Play and The O Zone. Find a location at https://www.helpsy.com/find-a-bin
